Tiago Russo is the Chief Design Officer at The Craft Irish Whiskey Co., a premium & luxury Irish spirits brand that aims to elevate and return to Ireland its former glory and reputation as home of the best whiskies in the world. Building an empire with a global mind-set and Irish heart.

Over the last decade Russo has designed for some of the most respectable brands in the world. His impressive portfolio spans the luxury lifestyle domain from spirits to cosmetics, automotive to timepieces including: The Macallan, Dewar’s, The Dalmore, Craigellachie, Bacardi, Louis Vuitton, Patek Philippe, Coty Inc. and McLaren, to name a few.

Russo has been obsessed with detailed design for much of his career and holds a Master’s degree in Product Design with Automotive Design specialisation. With over a decade of experience implausibly dedicated to design, Russo is the ultimate perfectionist, always focused on making ideas a reality with a spirit of purpose, accuracy and finesse. Mastering the full design process from concept through to production, Russo is continuously immersing himself in culture and innovation to create pioneering, meaningful designs.

Revelation Designer of the Year in 2014 and collecting several awards and accolades over the last decade, Russo has been labelled one of the greatest luxury spirits and packaging designers of today. His design work for The Craft Irish Whiskey Co.; ‘The Devil’s Keep’ is an ultra-rare whiskey and has, since its launch in December 2020, attained the world record title for the most expensive inaugural whiskey bottle ever sold, and the overall winner of the Luxury Packaging Awards and the A’ Design Awards, marking another set of achievements on Russo’s creations within luxury product design, joined by the more recent record-breaking and award-winning creations The Brollach, The Emerald Isle, in collaboration with Fabergé, The Taoscán or The Aodh.

The Storyteller
The Storyteller goal is to become an augmented immersive and personal, intimist experience, through a vessel that must be held in one’s hand, fully appreciated upon glancing and handling, feeling the frosted and clear textures, the gold trims and knurl, and ultimately the obsidian details of the closure, in what is a fully sensorial and experiential bottle design. All the remaining accessories are hidden in plain sight, and only accessible from different axis of the box, only to reveal the ultimate immersive experience by fully exploring the secrets The Storyteller has to offer.

The Mulong
The Mulong brings together the Chinese Year of The Dragon values and immersion into a perfect merging of sensorial, intimate whiskey tasting experience, hidden away in a box that brings together the ultimate homage to tradition and mythology, whiskey and craftsmanship. To open The Mulong experience box is to discover an entire soulful experience of capturing the elements of The Wood Dragon and unleashing it into the ultimate search of hidden treasures and exquisite spirit that elevates and highlights the users’ journey of a memorable, momentous experience, waiting inside the mahogany temple.

A record-breaking highly collectable set that brings together immersive, sensorial design and craftsmanship with the artistry of refined jewellery and detailing. Envisioned as the ultimate whiskey statement, with only 7 sets in existence, the fully bespoke Emerald Isle collection pays homage to iconic and mythological Irish sites through the refined bottle, box and display unit designs that make this an unforgettable experience, and truly, a piece of whiskey and jewellery history.

The Donn
The Donn symbolizes the youngest of The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. range; a gateway to the core values of the brand as of an immersive experience around this or any product that CIWC develops. No accessories are spared, no details too small. From a disruptive, statement bottle design, to an immersive see-through box, the user can find every single component that can truly provide the perfect whiskey experience for one. Glass, pipette and stones, all safely secured onto the suede backing of the box, create a secure display of accessories, complemented with the soft touch of leather detailing.

The Niall
The Niall was designed as the ultimate tasting glass for the cognac aficionado, where every element has been carefully conceived to allow the drinker to taste and nose the cognac. The stem allows the drinker to elevate the glass, toast, and proceed to nosing with optimal control, whilst the thicker glass density ensures the environment has no effect on the temperature of the cognac. The Vortex Point, bulb, and chicane come together to remove the ethanol vapor, ensuring the drinker can detect every layer of flavor and aroma that has developed through decades of time, craft, and skill.

The Maple 7
The Maple 7 brings together a design merger between the usual take on luxury and experiential elevation, joining and completing this unique experience with Canadian rye and maple, elements subtly translated into the bottle design, creating a bold, striking presence enhanced and completed by minimal details that elevate both bottle and packaging into a disruptive shaping that demarcates itself from the rest of the competition, and using the ribbed base as a disguised highly reflective section, capable of creating a deep optical illusion that elevates the whisky and all of its natural colours.

Le Chateau XO
Le Chateau XO brings together elegance, luxury, and an elevation of the cognac throughout bold, striking details that bring the user’s attention and highlights the liquid and the vessel itself at the same time. Contrasting a sharp, strong vessel with a gold neck, knurl and trim, and creating a warm interaction throughout the light cream suede and the rich dark wood grain on the outside of the packaging, Le Chateau XO has been designed and envisioned to elevate the cognac experience to a completely new level of attention, enhancing the sensorial immersion along the whole tasting experience.

The Taoscan
To stand out from the crowd you need to be extraordinary. And The Taoscan is no ordinary product: there is no whiskey on earth like it. Designed for the finest venues, stealing the limelight on the bar. The stand and accessories were designed to offer the perfect whiskey serve: its open, 360 degrees design allows it to be viewed from every angle, deploying envy from everyone else in the bar. The walnut stand, the detailed copper stems that lead up to a leather handle, the obsidian or the thoroughly crafted bottle and glasses; every part of The Tasocan is the pinnacle of design excellence.

The Finn

Farol
Created by Katia Martins and Tiago Russo, Farol is the materialization of years of studies and tests in order to achieve a great lighting solution, environment-friendly, and that could create the most visual impact with minimalist lines and bold, neutral colours. A mixture of steel and cork, of contemporary lines and heritage, Farol relies on its angular geometry and central fixing to create the most impact with no visible components apart from the main conical shaping. A lamp made to be combined with others, Farol unleashes great visual impact recurring only to its minimal, angled geometry.

Shay Vsop
Crafted with Shannon Sharpe's input and inspired by Mary Porter's heritage, Shay Vsop enters the market as a product that is bold yet elegant, disruptive, a true statement piece for cognac lovers and connoisseurs. The strong, dark shapes contrast with delicate light detailing, creating a product full of contrast and raising all attentions towards the long vessel, topped by a black obsidian closure and silver detailing, where a collectible item is placed: with each batch, a different letter of the word Le Portier is foiled onto the closure, allowing collectors to procure all different batches.

The Devil's Keep
The inaugural release from The Craft Irish Whiskey Co., The Devil’s Keep Experience Box has been created with the most luxurious attention to every single detail, embodied by a dark stained oak finish and brass detailing. It all starts with the strong minimalist visuals on the outside, locked by an ancient Japanese lock with a dedicated key stored at the back. Only by unleashing the experience box from its ancient lock, you will be able to immerse into the contents inside, where dark burgundy leather walls hold the tasting accessories, crucial to experiencing the Devil’s in full.

The Erimon was designed as the ultimate tasting glass for the whiskey aficionado, where every element has been carefully conceived to allow the drinker to taste and nose the whiskey. The stemless design allows the drinker to bring the glass to the nose with optimal control and the thicker base ensures the contact between hand and glass has no effect on the temperature of the whiskey. The Aodh
The Aodh inhabits a world of darkness and glamour, where lights are low and passions soar. Drawing on this mysticism, it tells of a time after dark, its form a mesmerising helix that bewitches and enchants. The Aodh's stand illuminates the bottle from behind, the opal LED trim sending golden beams spinning through the whiskey before dancing off the mirrored surface of the frame. Harnessing the interplay of day and night, the polished golden curved surfaces reflect the light, while the textured and knurled details absorb it, generating a glow that places The Aodh firmly in the spotlight.
